Huelizer Privacy Policy

Effective date: 3 November 2026

1. Scope and contact

Huelizer is an independently developed Samsung TV application that synchronizes a Philips Hue Play Gradient TV lightstrip with screen colors. This policy describes the TV interface and background sync service in version 0.3.0. The developer and contact responsible for Huelizer is Alcides Fonseca, Portugal: me@alcidesfonseca.com. Huelizer is not an official Samsung or Philips Hue application.

2. Data used by the application

Huelizer processes the following data to discover, pair and control your lights:

The app does not request your name, email, phone number, postal address, payment details, precise location, microphone or camera. It does not create a viewing history or identify the programs you watch.

3. Screen processing and purpose

Screen sampling takes place on your TV while synchronization is running. Huelizer derives color values to control the lightstrip; it does not save screenshots, video or audio, or send screen images to the developer or a cloud service. Color commands are sent to your Hue Bridge on the local network, and a color preview and status are exchanged with the TV interface. Stop synchronization or disable automatic sync to stop this sampling. Saved pairing settings remain until removed as described below.

4. Local storage and retention

Pairing credentials, Bridge address, selected area and lightstrip, channel configuration and preferences are saved in the TV interface's local storage and the background service's app preferences so that syncing can work after a restart. Discovery responses, color samples and status are processed in memory and replaced during use; the app does not keep an archive of them. Saved app data remains until it is replaced or the relevant app data is cleared or removed. Huelizer has no developer-operated server holding a copy of your pairing credentials or screen samples.

5. Internet discovery and other recipients

Bridge discovery uses both local network discovery and a request to discovery.meethue.com, a Philips Hue/Signify service. That internet request exposes your public IP address and ordinary connection metadata to the service, which returns Bridge identifiers and local IP addresses associated with the connection. Huelizer does not send its pairing keys or sampled screen colors to that service. Signify's own Philips Hue privacy notice governs its processing and retention.

Your Bridge receives pairing requests, light configuration requests and color commands. Samsung may separately process installation, store or platform data under its own privacy notices. These providers operate independently of Huelizer. The app contains no advertising, analytics or automatic crash-reporting service, and the developer does not sell or rent app data. Support information is sent to the developer only when you choose to contact them.

6. Support, legal grounds and international processing

If you email the developer, your email address, message and any diagnostic information you choose to provide are processed to answer your request. Do not send pairing keys, screenshots of private content or other unnecessary personal information. Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized.

Where the GDPR applies, processing necessary to provide the sync functionality you request is based on performance of the requested service; handling support and protecting the service may rely on legitimate interests, and legally required processing on a legal obligation. Where consent is required for a particular activity, it must be obtained and may be withdrawn. No advertising profiling or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are carried out by Huelizer. Internet discovery, website hosting and email providers may process connection or correspondence data outside your country, including outside the EEA, under their own applicable safeguards and privacy terms; screen samples and pairing keys are not uploaded to the developer by the app.

7. Your choices and deletion

You can stop sync, turn off automatic sync and change settings in the app. Before network discovery or sync, the app asks you to allow the processing described here. Automatic sync is off by default. Choose “Delete app data” and confirm to stop sync, remove saved credentials and configuration from both the interface and service, and withdraw consent. If deletion cannot finish, the app reports the error so you can retry. Uninstalling the combined Huelizer package also removes its app data. If you used an older, separately installed HuelizerUI widget, remove that legacy widget as well to clear its separate storage. You may also revoke Huelizer's authorization on the Hue Bridge using the Bridge's supported access controls. Removing local app data does not by itself revoke a credential retained by the Bridge. If you need help, email the contact above.

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing of personal data held by the developer, and withdraw consent where relevant. The developer cannot remotely retrieve or delete data stored only on your TV or Bridge. You may complain to your local data protection authority, including CNPD in Portugal.

8. Security and children

Huelizer uses Hue's DTLS entertainment stream for color commands. Some local Bridge setup paths use HTTP, and the interface communicates with the service using unencrypted WebSockets bound to the TV's loopback address; do not assume all local traffic or saved preferences are encrypted. Use a trusted home network, keep your TV and Bridge updated, and do not expose the app's local service to the internet. Huelizer does not knowingly solicit personal information from children. A parent or guardian should supervise setup and contact the developer if a child has sent personal information through support.

9. This policy website and changes

Reading this policy is separate from using the TV app. The Bliki website uses hosting request logs, Umami analytics (including page visits and referrer information), Google Fonts, and browser storage for the theme preference. Those website requests can disclose your IP address and connection metadata to the respective providers; this does not mean that the TV app contains website analytics. Other sites linked here have their own privacy practices.

Changes to Huelizer's data handling will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. The English and Korean pages describe the same processing. Contact me@alcidesfonseca.com with privacy questions.
